20 Nov CfP: AAALS Virtual Seminar Series
The American Association of Australasian Literary Studies (AAALS) invites proposals for a Virtual Seminar Series held during the month of June 2026 over Zoom. This seminar series will take place in lieu of the 2026 AAALS conference.
Seminars can be of two types: A) panel or B) roundtable. Panels can have between 2 to 3 speakers. Roundtables can have 4 to 5 speakers.
Seminars should be on a topic that is connected in some way to Australasian literary and cultural studies. This topic can be broad (for example, a roundtable on historical fiction) or focused (for example, a panel on the works of a single author). Seminar length can be between 1.5 to 2 hours depending on seminar type and number of participants.
Proposal submissions should include a list of speakers who have already confirmed their intention to take part in the seminar. The proposal description should briefly state how each speaker’s
Anyone can organize and propose a seminar and be listed as a seminar speaker. If a seminar is accepted, all members of the seminar must be AAALS members before June 1, 2026 to take part.

Proposals should be submitted by Monday, 2 February 2026 and include the following information:
* Seminar title, type (panel or roundtable), and description (300 words)
* Organizer’s information (affiliation, email address, and time zone)
* Speakers’ information (affiliations, email addresses, and time zones)
* Preferred week of June 2026 for the seminar if accepted (if none state “No Preference”)
Proposals will be reviewed by the AAALS Executive Committee in February 2026 and acceptance notices will be sent out in March 2026. AAALS executive officers will co-ordinate with organizers of accepted seminars to set up and plan their online Zoom meeting in June 2026.
